Nyabugogo valley, the main gateway that links three provinces with Kigali, was again last evening the theatre of mass destruction due to heavy rains. The downpour accompanied by hailstorms washed away the main road leading into the city. According to the police spokesperson, ACP Damas Gatare, police and the City of Kigali authorities were doing all they could to reopen the road. In the meantime, traffic into the city centre was diverted via Kimisagara and the highway used by heavy trucks known as poids lourds. No casualties were reported by press time. Authorities have over the years been trying to tame Nyabugogo that is the scene of heavy flooding during heavy rains, causing losses of lives and property.
